Grocery Delivery: The Next Big Thing?
In short, I think so.
The grocery delivery business is starting to pop up everywhere online, with one or two major players taking the lead. And before you think this is your standard, normal, plus-to-cart entity, I’d like to stop you. That’s what I initially thought too, until I did a little digging. What I found interesting to say the least.
The core elements of these companies are the following: you sign up under one of the big players, and you’re given your own website – complete with products and descriptions – that you control. If you’re wondering how locals can find your “shop”, here’s another perk of this project: network owners do the marketing for you, complete with Google keyword analytics. I mentioned “Big Players” earlier, and I wasn’t kidding; There are some solid online marketing campaigns behind these grocery guys, and it looks like you’re dealing with some of the best companies in the business. (Search Google for ” Grocery delivery in Ottawa ” and see what you find.)
Now you have the site, it’s up and running, and your name is right there. At this point, you are the boss of yourself, which is your store.
Q: What next?
A: Get ready to start orders.
From what I’ve seen, it won’t take long for the commands to start. Remember that you are now part of a large “network” of grocery delivery; You are not just a small site trying to build it on its own.
I’ve seen some numbers collected by two of these powerful networks in the past year, and if anyone is trying to tell you that online stores are no longer thriving, it’s just wrong. Some are and some are not. But we still eat, and we all get busier and busier. Grocery delivery as an American mainstay is just around the corner.
